The Spell Ball Ritual: My Favourite Yule Manifestation Tradition

abundance manifesting sacred ritual yule Dec 20, 2023

In this blog post I am sharing one of my all time favorite rituals to celebrate Yule and manifest a special wish for the year ahead.

This spell is to be done on the day of the Winter Solstice where you live! (December 20-22 to accommodate for time zones).

You can even include your kids in this special tradition!

By the end of next year, you will be able to look back on the wish in your yule ball and see how much growth and change you were able to manifest. Every time I have done this with my kids or my students, my manifestations have come through as if by magic. And so can yours!

What you’ll need to get started:

  • A clear ornament that allows you to remove the metal top (You can find these at craft stores like Michaels or the dollar store)
  • A very small piece of paper to write down your wish
  • A small piece of ribbon or yarn
  • Ingredients to fill your ornament (Note: I love to use different herbs, small tokens to represent my manifestation, charms, natural elements from the earth, crystals, dried fruits, cinnamon, or spices. You can also use Epsom salt as faux snow!)

The goal for this ritual is to be extremely intentional in what you add to your yule ball. Take a moment to reflect on what it is you’d like to manifest and work on in the year ahead. Are there certain elements you can use to amplify your intentions, or to give you strength where you’ll need it the most?

For example, if you’d like to manifest for abundance, you can include certain elements like citrine or cinnamon!

If you desire to add elements from a gathering walk or your kitchen, you may find this resource really fun to look through! https://www.thewiccanlady.co.uk/herbal-grimoire

Instructions:

  1. Lay out your supplies
  2. Quietly reflect on what you’d like to bring into your life, or a wish you’d like to have come true by next Yule. This could be a life goal, a material goal, or a state of being (such as peace, fulfillment, freedom, etc.)

  3. Write your wish in present tense on a small piece of paper (For example: I am ________)

  4. Roll the paper up like a scroll as thin as you can (it’s going to have to fit into the top of the ornament).

  5. Take the thread, wrap it around your paper, repeating your wish or dream until the thread is at the end and tie. Set this aside.

  6. Look at each of the herbs, spices, tokens you’ve set aside. See which ones are supportive of your dream and use your intuition to add as little or as much as you’d like into the spell ball.

  7. Add your scroll, and replace the cap on your ornament, sealing your dream into the spell.

  8. Tie the hanging ribbon so that you can hang it on your tree or window.

  9. Pack your ornament away with all of your other Yule or Christmas decorations at the end of the season.

  10. When you unpack next year, open your ornament, returning the natural elements to the earth and thank them for their contribution.

  11. Open your scroll and see if your wish came true!

Happy Yule!
